Blood Orange Christmas Bombe

December 10, 2018

It’s that time of year again when everything glitters with the sparkle of tinsel and mince pies must be eaten as an accompaniment with every meal. That also means it’s time for our annual tradition of making our Blood Orange Christmas Bombe. As per usual, we want you to join in too, so here’s our recipe so you can try this home. Don’t forget to tag us in any pictures on @realhandful and as a special Christmas treat, if you’d like your own recipe card so you can keep our creation forever then email and we’ll get that sent to you.

– 500g panettone
– 500g vanilla ice cream (take it out of the freezer a few minutes early so it’s soft enough to work with)
– Marmalade
200g of Love Cocoa Dark Chocolate
– One clementine
– 3 packs of Blood Orange & Dark Choc Real Handful
– Triple Sec (if you want to add a bit of booze!)

1. Cut the panettone into 1.5cm slices
2. Line a plastic bowl with cling film and then line again with the panettone keeping back 2 slices for later – drizzle over the Triple Sec now if you’re adding it 🍸
3. Coat the inside of the panettone with marmalade using the back of a spoon
4. Pop in half of the ice cream and sprinkle the Real Handful on top
5. Cover with the rest of the ice cream and then top with the remaining panettone – drizzle a bit more Triple Sec again if you like
6. Cover with cling film and pop in the freezer for at least 2 hours
7. When you’re ready to serve remove the panettone and turn out from the bowl onto a serving plate

8. Melt the chocolate over boiling water adding the zest from the clementine
9. Pour the chocolate over the top of the panettone dome before serving (we like to pop it back in the freezer for 15 mins so the chocolate is nice and crunchy)
10. Enjoy!
